Charity Needs Foundation is encouraging you to help those civilians and key workers propping up the vital infrastructure of Ukraine who have not joined the million plus people that have been displaced from their homes and livelihoods, not to mention their cities and country, by the illegal invasion and occupation of a warring presence.
Like so many people and organisations around the world we have been assessing what we can do to help those caught up in the devastation that is unfolding before their eyes and ours.
What follows is a short plea to the rest of the world to do what you can to help provide protection and aid that will save lives and allow for those who have remained in situ to build up their fortitude.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Jonathan, I’m one of the trustees of Charity Needs Foundation (CNF), all of whom endorse this pledge.
We are raising a fund to safeguard and protect the lives of those civilians remaining in their homes and those key workers keeping open vital infrastructure amid the illegal occupation of a warring force in Ukraine.
We intend to purchase covert ballistic vests for those civilians (not army personnel — civilians only) who are in the danger zones living amongst the shelling, exposed to the danger of shrapnel and crossfire that they are now experiencing in their daily lives.
The whole world is now aware of the humanitarian crisis going on in Ukraine with over a million people displaced by the destruction taking place there, thankfully, a variety of charities around the western borders of Ukraine and inside the country, mainly in the city of Lviv, are doing a sterling job of caring for the displaced and homeless. What we don’t see, however, is a great deal of help and support being provided to those civilians who have remained in situ amid the danger zones. The people who have chosen to remain and protect their fundamental human rights such as their homes, have no personal protection and will soon run out of water, food and other essential resources.
We have chosen to obtain covert ballistic vests because they can be worn under regular clothing and will not make a civilian look as if they are part of the militia and therefore not make them a target when needing to move about the streets (when allowed to surface for supplies for example). Furthermore the vests are capable of withstanding long range, long barrel shots or a handgun fired at close range to protect vital organs. The covert vests that we will purchase have to have an export licence for us to transport them from the UK to Ukraine and they will be delivered in person, accompanied myself, to those brave and deserving civilians of Ukraine who are standing firm in the face of adversity. And since we are going to be heading into the heart of the capital, Kyiv, we will be taking in other supplies such as off the shelf pharmaceuticals like painkillers, aspirin, basic toiletries etc. as well as water and food aid.
All of us at CNF have heard the cries for the need of food and for protective clothing like the covert vest we have sourced, along with other necessary resources required for their sustainability and protection of life.
I hear your gasps and I too have a lump in my throat with the thought of what I am saying, but in answer to your question of why? I have to, we have to. It's the right thing to do. This atrocity is virtually on my UK doorstep and I don't want it to reach our home. However, if it does I want to know there will be someone, somewhere that will offer us in the UK the same help, support and protection as we are intending to give to the civilians of Ukraine amid their devastation.
Here a video that shows what has been unfolding in Ukraine causing its humanitarian situation.
We have all known suffering at one time or another which never does anyone any good. Right now I cannot truly imagine what bravery it must take to stand up in the face of such inhumane adversity, to do the right thing, to step forward, feet first, and tread a moral path while absorbing such atrocity in order to win through for the greater good. That's impressive and admirable, not to mention inspirational, which is why the whole wide world is up in arms about this illegal occupation of Ukraine.
On top of acquiring aid and protective covert vests we will need a vehicle to transport the aid to Ukraine. It must be road legal and it’s engine must have been recently serviced to be able to travel at least 5000 miles. If anyone can donate or loan this it would be a great support. And yes, we are going to have to get insurance for that too, unless someone is brave enough to offer to take us there.
As the atrocities have been unfolding I've been watching TV astonished at what I’ve seen is going on, just like most other people have been, and my desire to contribute to do the right thing has been gathering at an alarming pace, but that goodwill is starting to sit on the edge of anger. I am getting angry at myself for sitting back and watching and not doing more, so once again, the following is what myself and the other trustees have agreed to try and do...
Charity Needs Foundation wants to get protection and aid into the heart of Ukraine so that the civilians there, who are least likely to receive any humanitarian support, can feel that there are people in the world caring for their interests and concerned for their lives as if they were right there with them putting a blanket of comfort over their shoulders.
We will film everything for you so you will know exactly what we have done with your support. We'll even do some live streams on social media platforms, if possible, such as through Facebook and Youtube.
With your support we'll feel as though you are right there with us too.
Please support, wish us the very best of luck, and come what may, we'll bring back the story for you.
Charity Needs Foundation offers several ways for you to donate and all will reliably get your donations to us.

We expect to be able to bring forward that information between May and July 2022.
Regardless, we'll keep you informed.
